Overview
Los Angeles is a stunning fusion of diverse cultures, backgrounds, lifestyles and people. Popularly known as 'The City of Angels', Los Angeles is the second largest city in the United States, and the largest in the state of California. With a population of just over 3.8 million, the city is world renowned, and widely recognised, as the entertainment capital of the world. The city plays host to the world's largest entertainment scene, including television, motion pictures, video games, recorded music studios. The city's motion picture industry is the largest in the world in terms of revenues, with the iconic Hollywood hosting some the world's best studios, with celebrities from the world-over congregating in 'The City of Angels' for filming and as permanent residents.
Other than the city's booming entertainment scene, Los Angeles' economy is driven by such industries as aerospace, technology, petroleum, fashion, finance, telecommunications, law, and tourism. In 2008, Forbes.com ranked Los Angeles as the world's eighth most economically powerful city, and, after New York, it is the largest economic centre in the United States.
The city plays host to a thriving cultural scene, largely due to its status as the entertainment capital of the world. Aside from motion picture production, the city also contains a thriving performing arts centre with several of the United States' leading Theatres and Opera Houses located in the city. What's more, there are approximately 840 museums and art galleries in Los Angeles County. The city is also home to thriving sports organisations, such as the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball, the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League, and the Los Angeles Lakers of theNational Basketball Association.

Travel Information
Los Angeles is most easily reached by air, with Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) the major gateway to the city. Once you've arrived in Los Angeles, you may find it easier to get around by hired car. Alternatively, Los Angeles' Bus network and liimited rail services allow access to most tourism hot spots.
